Unless we learn from “Bless are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” then we can start with the self-empowerment.
The culture of “it doesn’t matter if we suffer here because there’ll be much happiness after this life” enables us to hand over our fate to corrupt institutions: the church and the government. These institutions become corrupt because they can always get away with their power trip.
With so much poverty, the more clients/customer for the crutch offered by the church: salvation business. This hypnotism controls the mind and heart of the Filipinos. With this, politicians dance to the music to get votes during elections.
Look how wonderful it is if they could preach about population control using effective contraceptives as a long term solution. There would be less population to distribute their leftover wealth.
As a short term solution, just practise the simplicity lesson they preach and give away the unnecessary things beyond their needs. And together we travel the way back into loving ourselves devoid of the artifical happiness brought by commercialism and consumerism.
Let’s not be a yet another slave of the products they are selling. We can determine who we are, what we can offer and what do we really need.
Self-empowerment starts in deciding on ourselves despite the pressure dictated by self-proclaimed savior. In the end, if we can save our very self, we need not to convince ourselves of our worth by saving the half while betraying the other half.
Let’s be kind to one another. How? By being kind to our self. The curse of original sin is the lubricant to perdition. We need not to buy our way out. We only give those institutions the license to kill the self-empowerment in us and feed on us with their inflicted curse of suffering on this earth in order to get to heaven.
Let’s be kind to our self and we’ll have idea how to be kind to others too.
Self-empowerment means choosing to save our self from self-destruction.
