What We Can Teach to the Children

This very inspiring story about  what we can teach to the children to become an effective leader that appreciates the difficulty and works to make things done for the benefit of everyone.
One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company.
He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision.
The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, never had a year when he did not score.

Humanism Way to a Better Us Explained by Experts

The Scientific Method

The video showcases reputable experts in their field from biology, psychology and philosophy and their take on humanism. Its introduction to humanism answers the questions on its importance, having life in the here and now, finding a way to live an ethical life, realizing the use of human's ability in discovering our nature and how can we use the understanding to our advantage.

Understanding is an effective way to better our standing as an individual immersed in diversity. This can be done by the habit of critical inquiry that changes mind when facts are presented. Scientific thinking hones this ability. The wonder, entertainment and thrill that science and scientific way of thinking serves, as Richard Dawkins enunciated, is a poetry of reality.

"It's up to us" summarizes it all.

Man vs Woman

Interesting information about man's vs woman's brain. Is it for real?

1. MULTI-TASKING
Women - Multiple process Women's brains designed to concentrate multiple task at a time.
Women can Watch a TV and Talk over phone and cook.
Men - Single Process Men's brains designed to concentrate only one work at a time. Men can not watch TV and talk over the phone at the same time. they stop the TV while Talking. They can either watch TV or talk over the phone or cook.

2. LANGUAGE
Women can easily learn many languages. But can not find solutions to problems. Men can not easily learn languages, they can easily solve problems. That's why in average a 3 years old girl has three times higher vocabulary than a 3 yeard old boy.

3. ANALYTICAL SKILLS
Men's brains has a lot of space for handling the analytical process. They can analyze and find the solution for a process and design a map of a building easily. But If a complex map is viewed by women, they can not understand it. Women can not understand the details of a map easily, For them it is just a dump of lines on a paper.

4. CAR DRIVING.
While driving a car, mans analytical spaces are used in his brain. He can drive a car fastly. If he sees an object at long distance, immediately his brain classifies the object (bus or van or car) direction and speed of the object and he drives accordingly. Where woman take a long time to recognize the object direction/ speed. Mans single process mind stops the audio in the car (if any), then concentrates only on driving.

5. LYING
When men lie to women face to face, they get caught easily. Womans super natural brain observes facial expression 70%, body language 20% and words coming from the mouth 10%. Mens brain does not have this. Women easily lie to men face to face.
So guys, do not lie face to face.

6. PROBLEMS SOLVING
If a man have a lot of problems, his brain clearly classifies the problems and puts them in individual rooms in the brain and then finds the solution one by one. You can see many guys looking at the sky for a long time. If a woman has a lot of problems, her brain can not classify the problems. she wants some one to hear that. After telling everything to a person she goes happily to bed. She does not worry about the problems being solved or not.

7. WHAT THEY WANT
Men want status, success, solutions, big process, etc... But Women want relationship, friends, family, etc...

8. UNHAPPINESS
If women are unhappy with their relations, they can not concentrate on their work. If men are unhappy with their work, they can not concentrate on the relations.

9. SPEECH
Women use indirect language in speech. But Men use direct language.

10. HANDLING EMOTION
Women talk a lot without thinking. Men act a lot without thinking.

Books are not witches. So, don' burn them. I am not saying we should burn witches nor books.

Freethinking

I am one with my skeptical attitude...

"(I had) a deep religiosity, which, however, found an abrupt ending at the age of 12. Through the reading of popular scientific books I soon reached the conviction that much in the stories of the Bible could not be true. The consequence was a positively fanatic orgy of freethinking coupled with the impression that youth is intentionally being deceived by the state through lies. It was a crushing impression. Suspicion against every kind of authority grew out of this experience, a skeptical attitude towards the convictions which were alive in any specific social environment - an attitude which has never again left me."                                        --Albert Einstein (Autobiographical Notes, 1949)

Choose to Live

I choose life. Because Life is about choice.

One thing I am proud of growing up maturely is that I am capable to be in charged of my life by adhering to Pro-Choice.

It makes my life more meaningful: 1. Because I take responsibility of my life. 2. I get to know myself in the process.

Elaborating "My way"

Yeng Constantino's version of "My way" epitomizes the essence of the song.

I am still searching for that video on youtube, but I guess someone is still thinking his/her way to do it.

Just in case videoke anywhere is not enough on your way..

MY WAY

Songwriters: Revaux, Jacques; Anka, Paul (Eng Lyr); Thibaut, Gilles; Francois, Claude;

And now the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friend I'll say it clear
I'll state my case of which I'm certain

I've lived a life that's full
I traveled each and every highway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Regrets I've had a few
But then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption

I planned each charted course
Each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this
I did it my way

Yes there were times I'm sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net/read/f/frank-sinatra-lyrics/my-way-lyrics.html ]
But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out, I faced it all
And I stood tall and did it my way

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
I've had my fill, my share of losing
And now as tears subside
I find it all so amusing

To think I did all that
And may I say not in a shy way
Oh no, oh no, not me
I did it my way

For what is a man what has he got
If not himself then he has not
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way

Yes it was my way

Reasons Exchanged II: Faith

An imaginary friend is necessary when one cannot bear the fact of solitude.
“So, any understanding made by human comprehension must be really personal and nothing absolute.”
—well girl, that is absolutely the point in this area called faith, religion or belief. Believing (or not believing,) that there is God and/or a Supreme being is on a very intimate personal level.

If you have read the Bible, good for you. To connect it with science (and politics too), good luck to you.

There are questions which science can answer, of course there’s facts to prove it, not everything is about facts, there are also questions only faith can answer because it’s experiencing through the heart and not with the mind.
Actually to know God is not merely because one knows about it , knowing God is experiencing him/her/it.
FYI, even Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein acknowledges there ’s a Supreme Being beyond their technical expertise. And your pondering about all the pain that the world is experiencing right now,it is made by fellow human beings too, why does someone who doesnt believe in God wonder if God did that or what.duh.
Follow up question….I am wondering why some atheist hate believers that much? , well there was respect during times she was in church with us.
May enlightenment be upon you too, if not, then that’s fine, it’s about you. I just hope i dont receive emails like these again blasphemous enough for me to react.
My Response
Religion is supposed to alleviate suffering and pain because the backer is the all-loving, all-benevolent, all-knowledgeable supreme being. I don’t find it fascinating to punish someone for being created a certain way. Example, God being all-knowledgeable that knows the past, present and the future already knows that one will be a liar but still created him/her that will eventually be punished for being created as liar in the beginning.

One can have faith that the sky is color green but it doesn’t change the fact that its color is sky blue. Being ABSOLUTE that the sky is green due to faith is an insult to those who are not color blind. It will be dangerous to be assisted by color blinds when crossing the traffic lights.

“There are also questions only faith can answer” and those question should be raised first. However, how can those questions be raised if there’s already the faith that the answer is God.

“Actually to know God is not merely because one knows about it , knowing God is experiencing him/her/it.”
We know a unicorn is a combination of horse with horn on its head. We didn’t know unicorn by experiencing unicorn.

“FYI, even Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein acknowledges there ’s a Supreme Being beyond their technical expertise.” So what’s your point? Maybe they have, but it doesnt mean they define that it is the god of christian, islam, hindu or jew. Their acknowledgment does not serve as proof of its existence.

Tell me an atheistic institution that excommunicate fellow atheist. No atheist has performed Inquisition or Crusade or burning of witches or collaborated in genocide. Even the Christians persecuted and nailed Christ as the bible said so.

Slavery, Incest, mass murder, rape, favoritism in the Bible as inspired by “God” is not only blasphemous but also obscene and disrespectful.

Thank you for reacting. I appreciate that.

Reasons Exchanged I: Mystery

I was recently engaged in a an exchange of emails. It all started when I sent them an essay on the evaluation of the Bible verses. And I share it with you.

"MY Personnal View and somewhat 95% of the world’s population have the same belief that one way or another there is a Supreme Being that we call God. I pity people who believe that everything can be explained by Science or by reason — why? because of the word MISTERY. Do you actually believe that the size of your brain which is around 15cm and weighs around 1.5kg can contain everything that you need to know about the whole universe? I can not even explain why I yawn when other people yawn in front of me or even the scientist have all the theories about yawning but still have not found out the real explanation on yawning.
If any human being will try to explain everything by science or by reason then there will never be any end to all the questions of how and why. Question like why our eyes cansee 3D 3-dimension of everything while when you shoot a 3D film, you need 3 cameras simultaneously. We have only two eyes by the way.
Even there is no exact science about dreams. Personally, If you will say that I’m ignorant for believing with our God and our Saviour Jesus Christ and the Bible, I have no problem with that.
In the end sir, I can not judge your beliefs or your “facts”. All I can say is that yes I believe you when you say that our mind is free. That we can think now for the all the reasons that we can reason. But for you sir, while you are finding answers, I will pray for you to find those answers. And thank you for reading the Bible sir, next time sir try reading it with your heart and not only with your mind."

My Response
Before December 3, 1903, the bird’s ability to fly was a mystery until it was explained by Wilbur and Orville Wright with their flying machine named Kitty Hawk. Flying by human was once a mystery and eventually explained without reference to the Bible. Every invention/creation of human comes with a manual that tells how it works and will be troubleshoot. Unfortunately, the Bible does not say anything about the brain, heart, gravity, mathematics, and telecommunications like what we found in manuals. Today in quality assurance, a manual is a standard. Is the brain, heart, airplane, submarine, yawn, 3D eye also a mystery to the entity that made it possible/existing that’s why it is not included in the Bible?

The 10% capability of the brain being utilized now corrected the ancient earth-centered and flat earth belief that threatened, tortured and killed early scientists and thinkers like Galileo, Copernicus, Bruno and Hypatia. It also has extended life expectancy through scientific discoveries on medicines and transplants. This brain enables us to invent machines and instruments that can predict catastrophes like typhoons, earthquakes and tsunamis. Its natural curiosity and courage to question the established knowledge progresses the civilization. It facilitates the self-correcting attribute of the scientific world (Example: Newton Laws is corrected by the Relativity. Relativity is corrected by the quantum physics).

It is a mystery to me why an all-loving, all-powerful, all-knowledgeable all-benevolent supreme being would allow innocent children die of starvation in Africa and as victims of war. It is a mystery to me why an all-just supreme being allows the innocent children suffer for the sins of their parents. As a human, I don’t have that kind of cruelty to send anyone to eternal fire to suffer for not believing in me. And I am not even a parent nor all-loving, all-powerful, and all-knowledgeable.

If there’s supreme being, he/she/it is incomprehensible by the 15cm and 1.5kg brain and by the heart that pumps blood in or out of the vein. So, any understanding made by human comprehension must be really personal and nothing absolute.

Prayers

" . . Prayer seems to me a cry of weakness, and an attempt to avoid, by trickery, the rules of the game as laid down. I do not choose to admit weakness. I accept the challenge of responsibility. Life, as it is, does not frighten me, since I have made my peace with the universe as I find it, and bow to its laws. The ever-sleepless sea in its bed, crying out 'How long?' to Time; million-formed and never motionless flame; the contemplation of these two aspects alone, affords me sufficient food for ten spans of my expected lifetime. It seems to me that organized creeds are collections of words around a wish. I feel no need for such. However, I would not, by word or deed, attempt to deprive another of the consolation it affords. It is simply not for me. Somebody else may have my rapturous glance at the archangels. The springing of the yellow line of morning out of the misty deep of dawn, is glory enough for me. I know that nothing is destructible; things merely change forms. When the consciousness we know as life ceases, I know that I shall still be part and parcel of the world. I was a part before the sun rolled into shape and burst forth in the glory of change. I was, when the earth was hurled out from its fiery rim. I shall return with the earth to Father Sun, and still exist in substance when the sun has lost its fire, and disintegrated into infinity to perhaps become a part of the whirling rubble of space. Why fear? The stuff of my being is matter, ever changing, ever moving, but never lost; so what need of denominations and creeds to deny myself the comfort of all my fellow men? The wide belt of the universe has no need for finger-rings. I am one with the infinite and need no other assurance."

Today In the History of Freethought: Dec 12

There are 2 entries for this date: Gustave Flaubert, and Jay Gorney.

Gustave Flaubert

On this date in 1821, novelist Gustave Flaubert was born in Rouen, France. Destined by his family for medicine, Flaubert preferred the world of literature. He traveled widely for nearly two years, and ascended to the top of the Great Pyramid in Egypt. After trying his hand at poetry, Flaubert became a novelist. His classic, Madame Bovary, which took him five years to write, was published in 1857. Its realistic portrayal of adultery offended religious sensibilities. Flaubert was criminally prosecuted, but escaped conviction. Flaubert's friends and correspondents included many leading skeptical literati of his day, including Zola, George Sand and Turgenev. Flaubert also wrote four other novels, including Salammbo (1862) and The Temptation of Saint Antoine (1874), which reveals some of his skepticism, a book of short stories and a play. Flaubert is widely quoted as saying, "It is necessary to sleep upon the pillow of doubt." D. 1880.
“And I can't admit of an old boy God who takes walks in his garden with a cane in his hand, who lodges his friends in the belly of whales, dies uttering a cry, and rises again after three days; things absurd in themselves, and completely opposed, moreover, to all physical laws, which proves to us, by the way, that priests have always wallowed in squalid ignorance, and tried to drag whole nations down after them.”
-- Pharmacist in Madame Bovary, by Gustave Flaubert. (Source: Warren Allen Smith, Who's Who in God)

Jay Gorney

On this date in 1896, songwriter Jay Gorney was born, the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants who came to the United States when he was a young child. The composer of "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime?" was, like the lyricist Yip Harburg, a nonbeliever who ended up being blacklisted for his liberal views. Jay Gorney is the man who discovered Shirley Temple and for whom he wrote her first movie song "Baby, Take a Bow" (in Stand Up and Cheer). He wrote such standards as "You're My Thrill" and "What Wouldn't I Do for That Man?" plus hundreds of popular songs for theater, film, and television. "We were not a religious family," his widow Sondra Gorney said in a telephone interview. They were not married in a church or synagogue. His memorial was held at the New York Public Shakespeare Theater, not in a religious setting. D. 1990
